I agree fully on the tracker being one of the better ones out there. I have never been so well informed on how I was eating nutritionally and I feel like it is really helping me understand what I am eating more. :D

;) Yup I did that too, now it's all organized like you said, much easier to find stuff...

I agree - I haven't seen a food log that is better anywhere else...and I was looking & trying some before I remembered the name "DietWatch" from years back!

Tonight I went in and cleaned up the way I've got foods named. When I first started I was putting the brand name first and details and what the food item actually was - was getting buried in the lists. Since I couldn't always remember the brand name it was getting difficult to find things in my private foods list. So now everything is listed by what it is first
Bread 100% Whole Wheat (Brand Name) type of thing.

As new things get added I hope to keep this system going!

Karen,
I am glad to see that the foodlog is really benefitting you. I guess I need to take more advantage of it.

I don't worry about high Vit. A counts if they come from food. Pumpkin! - wow it's over the daily limit just in a serving!

The nutritional info is also what I love about the food journal log Sara. And like "who", I've been adding in a lot of my own foods, are you not in the US either whopoop? I'm finding there is a bit of a difference in brands, but that's ok too.

Just entering everything I'm eating keeps me accountable, and I'm getting pretty good results with it.

Tonight is the first time I think I've ever had green smilies right across the board...but that's not a good thing for me. I screwed up big time with my carb count tonight. I bought packaged "couscous" and had a half cup at supper thinking it was a serving size. It was 1/4 cup that had 34 grams of carb. The fake chicken I tried had 14 grams per serving and I had 2 of those...usually I try to keep my carbs 45 at a meal, if not lower, and I just wolfed down 96. So it will be interesting to see what my blood sugar counts are at bedtime. Too pooped to get on the treadmill.
I might not have caught that I really screwed up though without the DW food log - so that's a really good thing, and I'll know better next time.

I am always trying to get those green smiles too! lol

exactly what I love about it!!

I put in all my own ingredients because most of what I have in my fridge and cupboard don't match with any of the American groceries that are already in the list. It's a bit tedious at first but now I only have to add a few ingredients a week so it's alot faster. I also weigh what I eat on a gram scale so I'm getting the closest possible calorie count I can. Most days I have a perfect score except my vitamin A is always too high but I can`t avoid that if I want to eat lots of fruits and veggies. ;)

I am finding the same thing you are Louise, everyday it is getting easier and faster using the tracker. About the vitamin A, I think you can't have too much natural vitamin A, it is the suppliments of vitamin A where you can go overboard...I think. lol

Karen, I'm in quebec. The only foods in the list I use are the fresh produce or meats, otherwise I add everything myself but like I said, the list is pretty complete now, I don't have to add new stuff very often anymore. I'm not following any particular diet either. I just set the goals to 1200 calories, 55g protein 175g carbs and 30g fat, then I just build my day around that. Always seem to work out pretty well. Also I have 4 small 300 calories meals a day instead of 3 meals with a small snack, I find I'm less hungry that way....

You are giving me insight to using the DW foodlog in a different way. Since I have been mostly following the Mediterranean diet, I print out the weekly menu and then I make adjustments to the copy. I could create my own menus based on the Mediterranean diet. I have been following it for a little over a year and have it mostly memorized. Then I could have more variety. Thanks for the insight!

How do you manage to get all of your iron in? That is tough for me.

BTW, I have the same issue with the Vitamin A but have gotten consistent feedback that as long as the Vitamin A is from veggies and not pills, there is no problem with too much vitamin A.

While I have been on DW consistently over the last year, I had been taking a break from using the food log, instead following WW (also a good plan). The past few days I have gone back to DW and have found that I love it. What I love most is the ability to plan on it. I will put in breakfast, lunch and snack and then look at my nutrition score and see what I am missing and plan dinner around that. It really helps. For example, I was low on calcium and it reminded me that I need to have a second glass of milk.

It really is a complete look at the food that I am eating and helps me make great decisions.
