:DYes. It's a town. It was a wonderful old German town when we were younger, but civilization has long since overwhelmed it.

Postpartum eclampsia - lynweth, I'm sorry to hear that. :( That stuff is scary. My sister went into a 3 day coma with postpartum eclampsia. She was meticulous about diet, etc. during her pregnancy. She had no signs until 2 days before she went into labor and then it was just a little swelling. Within an hour after her baby was born her kidneys shut down plus a lot of other awful things. She wasn't expected to live, which was an horrific shock to all of us. Fortunately her high BP after she pulled out of the coma didn't result in your DIL's problems.

I had a girlfriend who did the same thing. They adopted their second child our of fear it would happen again. But our doctor said having the second child actually helps you pull out of it, so my sister proceded - with great caution. Don't know if there is a scientific basis for our doctor's opinion, but my sister is now 62. She went on to have a problem free second pregnancy and a healthy life.

I also began having symptoms during my second pregnancy which caused my doctor (same one who treated my sister) to panic. He insisted I go into the hospital, but I refused and asked my Mom to stay with me. I was scared though, and began watching my diet so carefully (no salt/lots of veggies) that, after delivery, I weighed 30 pounds less than I did before I got pregnant.:D Baby daughter was healthy, too. Hope everything turns out as well for your family.:)

Miss Hattie, I think it's a Texas town! :D It sounds like it must be a pretty place.

Thanks Carol and Miss Hattie for your prayers for Dana. My DIL had pre-eclampsia, only it was post partum (the baby was born on March 3). The high BP resulted in Dana having a sub-arachnoid hemorhage (sp.). It was a small amount of bleeding, but it sure caused some scary problems including terrible headaches, dizziness, weakness and general incapability to go about her normal life. Eventually the symptoms lessened, and she had a follow-up cerebral angiogram which confirmed that the blood in her brain had all reabsorbed. That was a couple of months ago. But then she started having headaches again - not as bad as before, but enough that her neurologist ordered another MRI to check and make sure she doesn't have any more leaky capillaries. Her BP has been normal for quite a while.

Anyway, Dana's MRI was this morning. I went with her, and everything seemed to go well, but of course, she'll have to wait to hear from her doctor about the results.

Meanwhile, we also had a great time with the grandkids!

Today is our 36th wedding anniversary. Wow, that's a long time! :D We might go away for a couple of days later in the summer. :)

Kat, all those nurseries and gardens where you live sound fantastic! Some day maybe I'll see them in person.

Hi there. :) Just checking in.

We're having more rain. It is so odd right now for the middle of July, especially on the skirts of a near disaster. The weather is cool in the evenings. What a reprieve!

We've been at the hospital and keeping my husband's brother from getting lonely at home, which isn't too much of a chore. I always love sitting on his front porch and watching New Braunfels light up at night. You can see the town from one end to the other from his vantage point on a hill outside town.

Have a good day!

You just reminded me of more things I need to get done! Cutting off my roses and petunias! I'll try to save them for my next list since my current one is already long enough for today!

My dad got ripped off on a big bite out of his retirement plan, too. He worked at Joslyn Steels --- now Slater Steels.

I finally got called for a couple of shifts. I'll be working second shift on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Carol - that's terrible what's happening to your dad, but I've heard similar stories too. Guarenteed pensions and health insurance are things of the past. I hope things work out for him.
Lyn - If you like gardens and nurseries, you'd love it over here. In spring, there's the tulip festival, iris festival, strawberry festival, etc. Just north of us are peony farms and hosta nurseries. A little farther up the road, Swan Island Dahlias. Go west, and it's Egan's Nursery specializing in geraniums, Ferguson's Fragrant Nursery, Heirloom Roses, and Monnier's Fuchsias. South of us, there's a big lavender farm which sponsors a festival, and Nichol's Herb Gardens. Oh, closer to Portland, there's Hugh's Water Gardens too. Cool place. They have a type of water lily so big, a child can sit on the pad and not sink. :) All of these are nationally known, with great catalogs.

Good Morning

It's supposed to get into the 90s for the next few days. :p Ugh. I max out around 85 degrees.

Yesterday I mostly watered, but also moved some heat-stricken pansies to a cooler place. I planted a bunch of red petunias in my tomato bed, and burgundy petunias around my rosemary in the whiskey barrel.

My plans today include watering and deadheading the roses, paying the bills, and checking on Mom. When I saw her last night, she was trying to repair a metal rake with tines from another metal rake. Between the two of us, we finally managed to come up with one rake with all it's "teeth." She's good at doing stuff like that, but when I asked if she'd had dinner yet, she didn't remember. Sigh. She's maintaining a good weight, so it's not a problem yet. She does eat, eventually.

Have a great day, everyone ~

I don't want to steer you wrong, Carol. I know it would soothe it. I was just concerned that it would have some ingredients in it that could hinder healing.

Yeah, I make money on eBay when I work at it. It's important to keep lots of things listed all the time to have a regular income. It's takes time to take identify your purchases, write up info, take a good picture and then get it all loaded into a listing so sometimes I'm a little slack.

I bought a Vera Bradley cosmetic bag at a garage sale for $3 and sold it for $22. I bought a Snoopy/Woodstock telephone for $12 and sold it for $47. (Just a couple of samples) But I've also sold some items just to get rid of them to break even. I sell a lot of Vera Bradley items, new with tags, that I bought at the VB outlet sale in May and make good profits on those items, too. I stocked up! Bought several huge bags full! Other than the new VB items, I mainly sell vintage type collectibles.

Lyn, I couldn't remember exactly what you said the problem was. Can you tell me again? I've been praying! God knows the scoop, even if I don't remember.

Will be going to Wal-Mart today for a few items. Quick trip! Will continue working on my list to get some more work done around the house. Nothing fun or special on the agenda.

Carol --- my community website will be completely in English this time around. we have a very large Anglo community, mixed with all other kids of people. but the Anglos (from all over the world) like to be able to read information in English and not have to break their heads with the Hebrew on other sites.

we have SO MANY businesses in town now. there are lots of small shopping centers, a very large strip mall, and now the new mall. plus there are many, many home-based businesses. believe me, there are plenty of businesses to get advertising money from. the biggest money comes from the banks and realtors. i have a very good business plan that i'm going to use... all i need is time, time, time.

Dianne- I will check into the prescription, thx for the info. Why would lip gloss hinder the healing, without it- my lip cracks and bleeds Ugh!!!!! So do you feel that ebay is a money maker?
Kat - LOL on "only a hour from anyplace interesting". You sure do have a lot of fairs, the summer must be filled with people. Didn't realize that the Chinese feel that a dragonfly was good luch, or does it need to land on your butt :D
Ad - Is your community website in English sort of "what type of business you have in town advertisement"?
Lyn - I will pray for Dana that the MRI will come out ok, so sad that she has had all these problems. Yea for keeping 1st place!!!!
Deb - are you lurking?

Good morning to all,

Work is well work, hopefully nothing major will strike. Have some piles of reports to complete and all I have managed to do is slide them around from the front of the desk to the back, to the side

After work I need to stop by my dads house. He worked at Chrysler and now the union has the company in court because they want to eliminate all health insurance for retirees. This is happening quite a bit around the country because of the cost of health insurance. Anyway he received quite a package with different options and is confused and asked for my help.

We are starting a four day cycle of HOT weather which isn't good. DD is coming over in the afternoon and DH will watch the baby so that she can go to the gym. I won't see them because they will need to be on the freeway before the traffic crunch.

Make it a good one

Carol
