Miss HAttie you should be a nurse at our school we only go to 5th grade. Our middle school is 6, 7, and 8 grade. You could be doing a happy dance instead.
We had a very unexpected fire drill not planned some one in the break room today burnt toast that set the fire alarm off, of course this is when our 1st and 2nd grades were eating lunch so we had them exit the building and line up where they normally do for fire drills, those little ones were really good for a change and did what they were suppose to do, very please with the way they handle it. got lots of we will get to finish eating, which they did, made for a crazy lunch hour. lol
We also got lucky and it wasn't raining the rain basically waited until the end of last recess we got very lucky/
take care

Ours is pretty much the same way, Eugenia. I was thrilled when her sister moved on to high school. Unfortunately this gal is only in 5th grade so I'll be seeing her for 3 more years!!! Unless I decide not to return next year. If I get my new house, I've been thinking about just working for the registry and leaving the school job. I love working with kids, but it takes so much time at a pay cut for most nursing positions. Catholic schools never pay as well as public!

LOL. Yeah - oh, THAT would get me in even bigger trouble. This lady first called the assistant principal to complain and was told she had to talk to me if she had a problem. I tried to explain to the mom that I called her within 1 minute of her arrival to the clinic and WHAT was the problem?????? I explained that I check the temp on every student complaining of not feeling well. She just went on and on. Then I heard she called the office back again to complain some more that she felt "she just couldn't get through to me".
And at the same time I had a parent present with a bleeding child from an injury in art class that we were trying to decide whether she needed stitches. But I had to take time away from a needy bleeding child (who is on medication that hampered the bleeding from stopping) to deal with this rich overbearing parent in reference to her spoiled pampered coddled child.
Grrr. Well, Iceman. Ya got me back up on my soapbox again!!!!! LOL.

Nice to see you all checking in. I had a very busy day at school seeing almost record numbers of kids with injuries and flu. One parent called to give me a hassle - again - same parent - and I could just scream. Had a busy day but it was fun and all was going well until this parent called toward the end of the day. Grrrrrr.
Her daughter has mono and is always typically coddled and pampered by her parents. She's a 5th grader and her sister in 9th grade was always the same way. Frequent whiny visits to the clinic crying for mamma..... even before the child had mono.
The child came in with a dramatic announcment that she had mono (I already knew that) and I responded, "That's okay, that's no biggy"..... trying to assure her that it's not a big worrisome condition and can be easily handled. Knowing the mom and knowing the child does have mono, when the child arrived saying she didn't feel well, I took her temp and immediately called her mom. IMMEDIATELY and without hesitation!!! Mom complained because she said mono IS a VERY BIG DEAL and because I took her temperature!!!!!! She didn't want me to feel that her daughter going home depended on the temperature reading -- and that her daughter could go home anytime she wanted to and that it was her daughter's decision, not mine and not the teacher's.
Hey, the kid didn't have a fever.... and did I NOT call the parent????? I check the temp on any kid coming into the clinic complaining of not feeling well. (Hey, I was glad to call mom and get her out of my office.) Yet the mom complained because I took her temperature. Ya just can't please some people. Who knows what story this child took home to her mother but she's done it before and so did her older sister.
Just had to vent.

They tell us today we should hit the 40+ mark. I'm as excited as a little kid! I was thrilled yesterday when it hit 37. LOL.
I slept well but am up early to be a good Grandma and get Brooklynn off to school. Have a run to the post office to make first and a pet case if I can squeeze it in before work, otherwise will do it after. Then it's back home to work on taxes. Got some new Tax Turbo software installed last night.
Did you all sleep well? Flu and pneumonia all vanished from your families? Ready to take on the challenges of the day ---- including only healthy eating and increasing your physical activity?
Check out the recipes if you haven't caught the newer ones lately. Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
