I think I heard on the news tonight that a law or rule was passed today that in the future, no "downers" (cattle that can't stand or are wobbly) will be slaughtered for food. That's good news to hear. I can't understand why they ever would have accepted a cow that appeared ill in any way! Money, I guess.

actually it really doesn't worry me that much, I have a freezer full that was before this all came about,

I know they have taken steps to be sure everyoneis okay.

But if the cow could not walk to the slaughter house it should of been isolated until they knew the reason instead of cutting it up at least they didn't use the parts that were infected. Hope from now on any that are sick or not walking to good be sat aside and find out what the medical problem is.

One of the few times i am glad my freezer was full ahead of time.

Nah, we are a well done meat family finally so even if a mad cow did sneak thru the door I'm sure micro organisms would perish in the fire...I stocked up on meat a couple of months ago so everything in the freezer should predate the EVENT...the location in WA is about 160 mi. north of my home town, Kennewick, WA.

Which one of us is from Oregon...what part...I always loved Oregon. Spent time in the Dalles, Portland, spent 10 days in the Klackamas county jail one time...I better stop before I'm overwhelmed by nostalgia... http://boards.dietwatch.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

(Eugenia, DebR/Tymone, IceMan) ~ I hear the tainted Mad Cow beef was sent to your states. Does it worry you? Are you eating fish, chicken and seafood, instead?
