Ironic isn't it..?? I heard on the radio the other day that the church was selling land in Boston to meet the mega-million $$ settlement with the families and victims of parochial child abuse...maybe they really need that insurance money they're saving on you for that also.... http://boards.dietwatch.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I work 20 hours per week for the Catholic School System.... salaried. If I worked 30 hours (which I probably do from all the extra time I put in), I would be eligible for insurance. They keep me under because they don't want to pay for it for me.

If you keep doing well with consistently low blood sugar readings throughout the day (not just one or 2 times a day), that next A1c will be wonderful!!!

Actually Miss Hattie I got that reading over the holidays. I was distressed when I got it because my diabetic educator had felt like my A1C would be less than 6 because I had been telling her that my bs was seemily doing well.

She then said that the reading was for 3 months and that I had only been doing my diet, exercise and meds for 2 months and maybe next time (in 3 months) it will be lower than 6.

I am very happy for you and wish you well with the program!

BTW...Aren't you a school nurse? Move to AL and you will be able to have our health insurance......same as educators.

Yes, Aggiette, I have no medical insurance. I used to go to a free and reduced fee clinic for care but now my own income and my household income (son got a good job) has improved so I'm no longer eligible. Because of an exacerbation of my sarcoidosis, some arthritis problems, and a knee injury (torn ACL), I went there for about 3 years to help with the extremely high medical expenses that I simply could not pay on my own. I'm now back with my family physician and hoping for better health to avoid medical fees.

You've progressed from an 8.7 to consistent normal blood sugar levels which is soooo awesome!!! When was that level done? When do you see your doctor next? You're gonna knock his socks off with how wonderful you're doing!

Are you withought insurance? I have a friend with diabetes and she has no insurance. BC/BS Just held an open enrollment but with a year waiver for pre-existing conditions so she is waiting for next year and will be of age of Medi-care.

Congratulations on qualifying to be considered for the study. I can't imagine what I would do if I didn't have medical insurance. I'm locked in for life thru my State Of Alaska Public Retirement System benefits and the insurerer is AETNA who is easy to deal with.

I'm on lantus and it seems to be working fairly well in conjuncition with the fast acting humalog. I've got my fingers crossed for your acceptance into the study and all the perks that come with it...

It was 7.7 which means I've passed the first hurdle for qualifying for the new Lantus Insulin study. The nurse said the doc will be wanting to talk with me and if I don't hear back from them within a day or two, I should call back.

The thyroid blood test was normal.
