Don't worry about me....I will be fine. http://boards.dietwatch.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I am very anemic.....my hematicrit (sp) was 31. They have no idea why it is so low. They did some tests last month...I bet it is lower right now...I feel kinda bad, really wiped.
I haven't called the doc to tell him how high they are...but they were kinda high before and he didn't do anything differnt. I am suppose to increase my AM insulin by 5 units every 3 days till my lunch or dinner readings are consistantly 120. Some days they are low others are in the 200's. I am taking 80 in the AM now. He doesn't want to give me regular on a sliding scale cause he doesn't want to add another shot...I am on 2 a day now. He wants to get the 70/30 regulated so it takes care of it. Once I get to the right dose in the AM then he will probably make me do the same for the night dose. I don't know.
Should I call him earlier?
I told the doc this morning about my leg pain and he brushed it off....so I am going to my RA doc on the 25th and going to demand that he run some tests or something. I couldn't even walk to the back of the store today to the pharmacy! That pain is so bad....and I KNOW there is something wrong and not the RA. It feels different than RA pain. Knowing my luck it could be bad. This is just like with the abcess last year...no one would listen till I was almost dead. Grrrr http://boards.dietwatch.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Deb, is the doc aware of how high your sugars are? Did he specifically tell you to do nothing when your sugars are high?
And I'm wondering what your iron and hemoglobin levels might be. Could you be anemic? Getting worried about you again.

Ever since the last surgery my BS has been high. Must be that stress...and for some reason I have felt really drained and real weak and tired since the last surgery....so that and the wound is probably the reason my BS is so high.
No the doc never put me on a sliding scale of insulin. I just take the 70/30. I don't do anything but write it down when it is high.
I see him again on the 25th.
It was 267 this morning. http://boards.dietwatch.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Deb, could it possibly be related to some of your medication? Are you taking any kind of prednisone for your arthritis? Remember that emotional and physical stress on your body, surgery, illness, and perhaps even a very large wound could help increase your sugar level.
What measures do you take when you get a high reading? More insulin? Did the doc ever put you on a sliding scale?

I did my monthly check this am. It was 88 which is very usual. I never have high sugar levels, but just severe hypoglycemic symptoms. But I've been urged by dr. to check regularly. I'm happy for the 88.
