In general, I would recommend whatever time is best for you. If we decide to do something at a certain time and it doesn't work for you, it usually won't happen. Take a look at your schedule and go from there. If time is not a problem, try the morning. Your metabolism will stay elevated for awhile throughout the day. Have a small snack such as a piece of fruit before you go and don't forget to warm up and stretch after your workout!

The best time to exercise is so different for each person. Consistency is the most important thing you can do because you need to schedule some time in each day to exercise and have it become a habit.

For me: I am a morning person, so I exercise before going to work. I am in the gym by 5:15am 5 days a week (work days) and 1 time on the weekend so I go at 7:00 when it opens. My muscles are more limber after work, but believe me that is the only thing that is a positive. I am tired after a full day at the office and have never managed to maintain an exercise schedule that starts at the end of my day.

Determine if you are a morning, afternoon or evening person, work that into your schedule and you should be fine.

The time you'll do it regularly. http://boards.dietwatch.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I didn't mean to be facetious, and there may be a time to do exercise which is physiologically best but in the end if the 'best time' isn't best for your schedule it won't be any good.

For me the 'best time' is first thing in the morning. I go to the gym before I go to work. Sure it means I get up super early, but after I workout I really feel alert and alive and up for the rest of the day. If I work out at night, I am all revved up with only bed to look forward to. That is, if I work out at all. I never seem to get to the gym at night when I need to work out then except if I am playing tennis or working out with a trainer.

So figure out what works best in your particular schedule and take it from there.

Good luck on your journey...Keep On Keeping On! (KOKO!)

When do you get the most benefits from exercise? Before breakfast or after? I have read info saying before you burn fat immediately because your body has no fuel first thing in the morning. Also the complete opposite, that eating first jump starts your metabloism and you start burning fat more quickly? So what is your opinion? Thanks. Sandi
